Arkansas Based School District Ditches Competitor for AVG Anti-Virus

Arkansas Based School District Ditches Competitor for AVG Anti-Virus

Walling Data Systems | 14 Oct 2008

Joey Andrews is the sole computer technician for the Arkadelphia Public School System in Arkadelphia, Arkansas. For the past five years, Andrews has been single-handedly managing the technology needs of the district’s five schools and more than 700 workstations.

“We were using a popular anti-virus solution to secure our networks,” Andrews said. “Like many school systems, however, we work with a very tight budget, and this product was just draining too much from our IT allocation. So we made the decision to look around for an alternative that would give us high levels of protection for our network without breaking the bank.”

Andrews’ search for a replacement quickly led him to AVG Technologies, developers of the popular AVG Anti-Virus, and Anti-Spyware security software.

“I was familiar with the Free AVG product and its excellent reputation,” said Andrews. “So I was delighted to discover I could get the same high standard of protection for my networks with the commercial version of AVG Anti-Virus.”

Having found the product he wanted, Andrews then went in search of a supplier who understood the needs and constraints of the education marketplace. Walling Data looked to fit the bill nicely, with the added bonus that Walling offers special discounts to its educational customers.

“Purchasing from Walling just made tremendous sense for us,” recalled Andrews. “Not only was the price they quoted me significantly lower than the price I’d been paying, but I knew I was getting a high-quality product, too.”

Not just low prices but exceptional service as well.

Andrews was even happier to find that Walling Data offers all its customers free pre- and post-sales support for the life of the product, all from the United States.

“When we switched over to AVG, Walling Data was there to help us set it up,” Andrews said. “They worked with us throughout the changeover, and also helped us when we upgraded to the new version 8.0 of AVG earlier this summer.”

Not only is Walling Data the longest-standing and highest-volume distributor of AVG Technologies solutions in North America; it is also the only distributor to offer all its customers free, unlimited, U.S.-based pre- and post-sales support by toll-free phone, e-mail, or online via the company’s unique “We-do-it-for-you” remote-control support service.

Because AVG has been so easy to maintain, Andrews has not had to call on Walling Data for assistance, other than with the initial deployment and upgrade to 8.0, but he was grateful to have the support technicians on board to help him with both of those deployments.

“We have a large network with five schools and over 700 workstations, so it was very helpful to have Walling Data help me work through the process,” Andrews said. “All I had to do was watch and learn as they remotely set up AVG on our network. It was extremely easy and completely pain-free.”
