ILIADA Announces IDTELi, LLC as the Association's "Red Flags Rule" Program Provider for Auto Dealer Members

ILIADA Announces IDTELi, LLC as the Association's "Red Flags Rule" Program Provider for Auto Dealer Members

ID Theft eLearning Intelligence, LLC | 18 Jul 2008

Bruce Eklund, Executive Director of the Illinois Independent Automobile Dealers Association (IL-IADA) today announced the Association has selected IDTELi, LLC to offer their “Red Flags Rule” compliance program to its Members. IDTELi, LLC specializes in providing workforce identity theft awareness and prevention training combined with offering clients cost effective patent-pending security software for the prevention of information theft “in motion” in addition to 24/7 network monitoring services.

Bruce evaluated a number of companies offering “Red Flags” programs in search of a company that provided more value than just free documents and free templates to Association Members. Illinois IADA members determined they needed more than a ‘checkbox compliance program.’ Eklund felt their Association members required a more complete solution that included both a compliance component, as well as an educational element. After reviewing several potential options, Eklund selected IDTELi, LLC. Along with the necessary compliance features that they provide, IDTELi stands out because of its dedication to identity theft education for its customers.

Bruce goes on to say “IDTELi, LLC truly understands identity theft and isn’t just a company that recently formed in response to the “Red Flags Rule.” IDTELi, LLC was first in the country to develop and deliver formal workplace identity theft awareness and prevention e-learning education and training. Their ID Theft Prevention Program is a layered approach that is more helpful to auto dealerships in preventing and responding to the problem plaguing the industry than just providing documents. Their bundled, cost-effective leading-edge security products, network monitoring, and data breach response services are all part of their end-to-end solution – saving dealerships valuable time and thousands of bottom-line dollars.”

IDTELi, LLC CEO Brenda Eaden says “Our Company was founded on the belief that prevention and mitigating risk starts by adopting a holistic approach to prevention and educating employees. We shouldn’t look to laws to tell us what to do. Instead, they should be utilized to provide us with basic guidance for our business. The responsibility of our company’s “best practice” is to prevent identity theft and fraud. This begins with attitude change at the managerial level coupled with developing and implementing sound policies and procedures that are easy to follow on a daily basis and that act as an integral part of our business model.”

Bruce also comments that “No one likes or wants government telling us how to run our business. But unfortunately, due to how hard the automobile industry is being hit by fraudulent purchases, we can look to the government to step up audits and impose heavy fines after the “Red Flags Rule” November 1, 2008 compliance deadline.”

He goes further to say “Our Association has taken the position all associations need to adopt a fresh new attitude about compliance. There needs to be a change in how we protect our businesses, employees and customers with a sound ID theft prevention program which includes cost effective products and services. This paradigm switch provides more business benefit as oppose to sticking with the old attitude of ’calling it good’ if what we do begins and ends with the drudgery of meeting the bare minimum of our compliance responsibilities.”

Red Flags Rule:

In December of 2007, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) issued the Fair and Accurate Credit Transactions Act (FACT Act). Under these guidelines, the “Red Flag Rule” was adopted which requires the development, implementation, and maintenance of an Identity Theft Prevention Program by companies that manage and hold any financial covered accounts. The Red Flag Rule requires all institutions and creditors to implement an Identity Theft Prevention Program to detect and prevent identity theft. The key features that a Program must contain are “reasonable policies and procedures” to:

· Identify and implement Red Flags for financial covered accounts
· Detect Red Flags that occur
· Respond to Red Flags and notify customers
· Update the Program periodically to adapt to changing relative risk or safety of the institution or creditor from identify theft
