IdeaSolutions s.r.l. announces today the release of version 1.82 of Find Desktop, an electronic document manager for the Windows OS. Using Find Desktop, is possible to locate any bit of information in seconds. The program has a powerful search facility that enable to search for a keyword or phrase in different types of electronic and scanned documents. These include Microsoft Office documents, Adobe PDF files, ZIP files, Outlook messages and attachment text files. Unique in this software is the ability to search in scanned documents, processed and indexed by the OCR text retrieval engine built in Find Desktop.
Find Desktop provides a centralized location for documents that users want to include in search scope. To make documents searchable, users must add them to Find Desktop and index. This is as simple as dragging appropriate items into the indexed folders management" window with a mouse. As indexing doesn’t modify the file system, original files and folders remain the same. Along with textual documents, Find Desktop can index scanned documents. To do this, Find Desktop allows to scan the image, process its TIFF copy with the inbuilt OCR text retrieval engine, and index the output text. The indexed image document becomes searchable and it's also possible to copy and paste the text in a word processing software. Find Desktop provide also textual annotation on scanned image. This Virtual annotations can also be used for search. In addition to indexing, Find Desktop manage database fields to better classify documents.
Information search and retrieval with Find Desktop is remarkably easy. Users can type a search keyword or a phrase into the search box, located on top of the main window. For a complex search is possible to use various logical operators, such as “And”, “Or”, “Within”, to name a few. Find Desktop searches for the string through all indexed documents and lists the search results, which can be copied to clipboard or printed. The program highlights all found keywords in the text and also on scanned image displaying the document with them. The document can be printed with the highlights or without them.
